How it works
Four steps, all on this site. Here is exactly what you will see; select any picture for a larger view.
Step 1 of 4
Find your business page
Search for your business, enter your work email and business phone, and continue. It takes about a minute. A private verification page opens right away; bookmark it.
(opens a larger view)Choose your business and enter your contact details. Step 2 of 4
Prove it's yours, any one way
Your private verification page shows every method your listing can use. Pick the one that suits you; approval is automatic as soon as one works, and nobody needs to call you.
- Business email (easiest). We email an 8-digit code to an address at your website's domain, such as info@yourbusiness.com. No website changes needed.
- Code on your website. Paste a short code on your home page, or have your web manager add a tag.
- DNS record. Whoever manages your domain adds one TXT record with your code. Open DNS record on your verification page to see the exact value.
(opens a larger view)The verification page: an 8-digit email code ready to confirm.
(opens a larger view)Prefer DNS? Open DNS record on the same page to see your TXT record value.
(opens a larger view)Then add it as a TXT record at your domain provider. Screens differ; this is an example.
Step 3 of 4
Your page shows Claimed by Owner
Once you're verified, your listing is published with a green Claimed by Owner badge, and we automatically email your private dashboard link to your owner email address. Your logo, hours, prices and answers appear on your page.
(opens a larger view)The top of a claimed listing.
(opens a larger view)Further down: your hours and the prices you post.
Step 4 of 4
Edit everything on your page
Open Edit your listing from the link in your email and use the Jump to buttons to reach any section. Every change is checked automatically and usually appears on your page within about 15 minutes.
- Details: business name, tagline, description, button text and year founded.
- Logo: upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image; it is resized for you.
- Photos: show your storefront, team or work with up to 8 photos.

Questions from business owners
How do I take charge of my business page?
Select your business in the Get started form and enter your work email and business phone number. A private verification page opens. Prove ownership any one of three ways: enter an 8-digit code we email to an address at your business website's domain, add a code to your website, or add a DNS record. Approval is automatic as soon as one method works. Your listing is then published as Claimed by Owner, and we email you the full private dashboard URL. The same link also appears on your verification page.
Do I have to change my website?
No. Most owners verify with a code emailed to an address at their business website's domain, such as info@yourbusiness.com, which needs no website changes. Adding a code to your website and adding a DNS record are there for owners who prefer them.
Which email address can I use to verify?
Any address at the same domain as the website on your listing. For example, if your listing links to yourbusiness.com, you can use info@yourbusiness.com or owner@yourbusiness.com. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Outlook cannot prove ownership. When several locations share one website, such as a franchise or chain, email verification is not offered, so one location cannot claim another; use the website code or DNS record instead.
How long does verification take?
Email codes usually arrive within about five minutes and are valid for 30 minutes. After you confirm the code, approval follows automatically within a few minutes. Website codes and DNS records are checked about every five minutes for the first two hours, then about hourly, for up to 14 days; DNS changes can take up to an hour to appear. Your verification page updates on its own. If verification expires, start again from the button on that page.
What does my listing look like after approval?
Your listing shows a green Claimed by Owner badge, and the details and logo you keep up to date appear on your profile and in search results. The How it works section on this page shows a sample of a claimed listing and the owner dashboard.
What can I change on my dashboard?
Everything customers see about your business on your page: your business name, tagline, description, button text, founding year, logo, up to 8 photos, hours for each day (including closed days and 24-hour days), phone, website, street address and ZIP code within the same city, services, the cities you serve, specialties, your price list (or your full menu if you run a restaurant), and up to 12 questions and answers. Every change is checked automatically, including your address against U.S. Census records, and usually appears within about 15 minutes. You cannot change star ratings, Featured or Verified status, your city, or page addresses.
How do I access my private dashboard?
After ownership is verified and your claimed listing is published, we automatically email your private dashboard URL to your owner email address: the business email you confirmed, or otherwise the email you entered when you started. Open that email and click the full link to reach the Edit your listing dashboard on Northwest Pro Index. No username or password is needed. Save the approval email: its private link opens a 30-minute session. You can move between editing, review replies, and subscription tools during that session, then sign out. If you lose the email, use Email my dashboard link below to request it again.
Can I post my prices or my menu?
Yes. In the Prices section of your dashboard you can add price sections and list each service with an exact price, a starting price, a price range, a discount or a percentage, plus an optional unit such as per hour. Restaurants get a Menu section instead, with dishes, prices, Market price options, and out-of-stock markers. Your listing labels these as provided by the business owner, with the date you last updated them.
How do I change my hours or mark a day closed?
Open your dashboard from the private link in your approval email and select Hours in the Jump to buttons. Set the opening and closing time for each day, tick Closed for days you are closed, or tick 24 hours for round-the-clock days. Times are local. Submit your changes; they are checked automatically and usually appear on your page within about 15 minutes.
How do I add or replace my logo?
In your dashboard, open the Logo section and click or tap the upload area to choose an image. Use a PNG, JPEG or WebP file up to 10 MB and at least 32×32 pixels; square logos look best. Your logo appears on your page and search cards after you submit your changes and they pass the automatic checks, usually within about 15 minutes.
How do I add or remove photos?
In the Photos section of your dashboard, choose up to 3 photos at a time and up to 8 in total. Use PNG, JPEG or WebP images at least 200×200 pixels, and describe each photo in a few words for people using screen readers. Select Remove under a photo to take it off your page. Photos are resized and their location data is removed before they are published.
How do I add my own questions and answers?
In the Questions customers ask section of your dashboard, add up to 12 questions with answers in plain text, such as weekend hours, service areas or payment options. They appear on your page after the automatic checks, usually within about 15 minutes.
How do I reply to a customer review?
Open your dashboard and select Respond to customer reviews. Write your response and confirm that it contains no customer's contact, account or payment details. Your response appears below the customer's review. You can explain your side, but you cannot change the customer's words or rating.
Can a bad review be removed?
Business owners cannot delete reviews or change ratings. You can reply publicly from your dashboard so customers see your side. The review policy explains how reviews are reported, corrected or withdrawn.
How do I get quote requests from customers?
Contractors and other trades can tick Email me quote requests in the Customer quote requests section of the dashboard. Requests from visitors are then emailed to your verified owner email at no extra cost. The section appears only for business types that take quote requests.
My business isn't listed. How do I add it?
Use the List your business page. Enter your business details, including a street address in Washington, Oregon or Idaho, then verify ownership with a code on your website or a DNS record. Businesses that also work in other states are welcome if they have a location in one of these three states.
Is it really free?
Yes. Owner access is free forever. You can edit your hours, service area, and description at no cost.
Can owners change their star rating?
No. Star ratings and review counts are never editable by business owners and cannot be altered.
Where do I put the website verification code?
You don't have to: verifying with an email address at your business website's domain needs no website changes. If you prefer the website code, publish the exact code as text on your business website's home page, such as a footer line, or copy the provided nwpro-verify meta tag into the home page's HTML head. If someone manages your website, ask them to add it. The code must be available in the published page HTML on the business website shown on your listing. A social media post or a code on another website does not verify ownership. You can remove the code after approval.
How do I verify with a DNS record?
On your verification page, open DNS record to see your code. Whoever manages your domain then signs in to the domain provider's DNS settings and adds one TXT record for your website's domain: Name @ (some providers leave it blank or show your domain), Value your code, TTL automatic. We check it about every five minutes for the first two hours, then about hourly, for up to 14 days; DNS changes can take up to an hour to appear. You can remove the record after approval.
Is my dashboard on Northwest Pro Index or on my business website?
Your dashboard is the Edit your listing page on Northwest Pro Index. It updates your listing in this directory. Your business email, website or domain is used only to prove ownership. After approval, open the dashboard URL emailed to you, or use the Open my edit page button on your verification page.
What is sent to my email address?
If you verify by business email, you first receive an 8-digit ownership code. After approval, your approval email confirms that your ownership is verified and contains your full private dashboard URL, including its access key, plus the address of your public business page. Click the dashboard link to open the Edit your listing dashboard without a username or password. Keep the email private because the full link gives access to submit edits to your business listing.
How do I return to my dashboard or recover a lost link?
Open your saved approval email and click its private dashboard URL to start a new 30-minute session. If you lose the email, select Email my dashboard link below. Choose your business, enter your owner email (the business email you confirmed, or otherwise the email you entered when you started), and submit. If it matches the approved owner email on file, the system automatically emails the dashboard URL to that address. Check your inbox and spam folder; delivery normally takes about 10 minutes. Resends are limited to one every 10 minutes and five in 24 hours per business.
How is my private dashboard link protected?
The complete dashboard URL contains an access key tied to your business listing. Our system validates that key before publishing submitted changes. Approval and recovery emails contain that private URL, so keep the email and link private. The access key is removed from the address bar after opening the dashboard, and is not saved in browser script storage. Signing out ends the browser session. Recovery sends only to an approved owner email already on file. The recovery form never displays the dashboard key or confirms whether the email address matched.
How do paid subscriptions work?
Managing your business page remains free. Optional paid subscriptions are available only when a priced subscription plan is shown on this page. While the Coming soon notice is displayed, there is nothing to purchase. When available, subscriptions include sponsored placement, automatic activation after payment, self-service billing and cancellation, and activity reports. Payment does not change customer ratings or establish professional certification.
Already manage your page but lost access? Email my dashboard link to your approved owner email address.
